The Women's figure skating Olympic Gold medallist.

We went to see all the Olympic figure skating champions perform tonight at Luzhniki stadium. We saw all of the Russian stars including the 15 year old Yulia Lipnitskaya and the free skating pair gold medallists and in addition the American gold medal winners of the ice dancing pairs event, Meryl Davis and Charlie White and the Canadian silver medallists Scott Moir and Tessa Virtue.

There were also displays by some local figure skating schools and 'vintage' Russian skating stars. They all skated to a live orchestra and various opera and jazz singers. It was fabulous. Little boy was tapping away to the music and loudly exclaiming about the strength of the male skaters and there were more than enough sequins and glamour for the girls.

After the Canadian couple had performed and then retrieved the mountain of flowers and teddy bears thrown onto the ice for them they were asked if they had enjoyed the Olympics and if they had any standout moments. They replied that everything in Sochi had been perfect (which led to much cheering!) but that they always loved coming to skate and perform in Russia because the audience was always so knowledgeable about skating and really appreciated it.
