Out of the Darkness... (2014.058)

... Light!

Various night-sky-watching accounts on Twitter and Facebook started crowing about a major geomagnetic storm happening. So I threw on some old clothes, and tramped up the hill near to our house.

Looking North, the aurora was clearly visible to the naked eye, but this is what the camera saw. The white line in the middle of the frame is an aeroplane coming in to land at Edinburgh airport.
