Meet Me At the Bridge At 5am
I love long-distance running. Ever since I was nine years old and training for 5Ks with my dad, I've always had the urge run. During secondary school I was the 1500m champion for four years running. But lately, I have abandoned that hobby in favour of swingdancing. It wasn't until I was sprinting in very small bursts at the most inappropriate moments, that I realised I still had all that pent up energy. The only time I really feel happy with long-distance running is when it is very early in the morning. The problem is, I'm a night owl by nature. Luckily, my body clock has gone haywire since I had to wait out the gap between the end of my temp job and the start of my permanent editor role. I grabbed this opportunity, laced up my old running shoes and headed out to join the roadsweepers and the taxi drivers starting their shifts. I ran a 3-mile all-round trip in around 30 mins. I had my phone with me so I could listen to some Little Joy, MGMT and Paulo Nutini (yeah, bit of a mix!). I ran to my favourite place to be alone in Chester - Queen's Park Bridge - and managed to get a great shot of it at around 5am. I hope that when I start my new job I will still be able to sneak in a few midnight or 3am runs when I've got the city to myself :)
