Wind Mill

I have an obsession with windmills, decorative or functional. Whenever I see one on the side of the road I immediately want to capture it. The first time I saw this one was a few summers ago riding my bike to work and I got a pretty nice shot of it with my cell-phone camera. Today, on a whim I drove that way home hoping the light would be nice enough to capture it again since the clouds had broken. (My biking and driving routes to work from home are different.)

I think this shot is ok. I needed a wider angle lens and I realized riding by on a bike was much easier than trying to find a place to pull over with my car. There is hardly any shoulder on this stretch of road and big ditches on either side. I was basically stopped in the road trying to manage a shot out the open window before anyone drove up behind me!

It made me think that once the weather improves I should load up my camera in my saddle bags and do a bike ride for the sole purpose of finding gorgeous shots like these. Bike riding makes the logistics so much easier and also it's easier to think about and compose gorgeous images when moving at a slower pace.

Can you tell I'm thinking about summer already?? I want to get back on my bike!
