Good to go!
Sad not to see northern lights despite being up at 3.30 am for the drive an early flight to Geneva.
We are in the Three Valleys, an enormous ski area in the French Alps. Our village is below Val Thorens at an altitude of 1850 m, but we have access to Meribel in the next valley, and then over to the third where Coucheval is located. We are on a cheap deal to fill up a spare room in a hotel for schoolchildren - some may scorn the wisdom of this, but at £299 for flights and half board it was an offer we couldn't refuse.
This blip is of the ski store - we are all equipped and ready to go. The pistes are going to be busy as it is French half term holiday. There is lots of snow, with more expected - it would suit me to get snow at night and then a cloudless blue sky in the morning, but that is not expected here this week.
Unfortunately as only 14 people can use the internet at the same time I'm not expecting to get access much, so think my journal will be brief.
