St David's Day

1st March and for the Welsh it's St David's Day. Apparently, St David advised the Britons on the eve of a battle with the Saxons, to wear leeks in their caps so as to easily distinguish friend from foe and this helped to secure a great victory. I, somehow, don't see the sense behind that and I don't think I'd go along with the tradition that soldiers in the Welsh regiments eat a raw leek on St David's Day!
In spite of the dreadful weather we've had, our leeks have put on a brave show and tomorrow we will eat our first harvest - cooked, of course!
