Not the Northern Lights
Tonight we had the most spectacular display of Northern Lights I have seen in a long time, maybe ever. They filled the northern horizon, and went from a deep angry red in the west, to smokey langourous skeins overhead, to searchlights in the east. I got the lasses out of bed, and they went out in their pyjamas and jackets - they have never seen the lights before, and were very excited.
I tried to take pictures. I couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting anything, and I just couldn't be bothered to faff about with the camera when all I wanted to do was gaze. I found out later I had stopped right down for some reason, so, what with it being dark anyway, I wasn't going to get a lot. Duh. This is prehaps the worst photo anybody took tonight, a very out of focus Elsie, Hannah and the cat. Never mind. I have the pictures in my head.
