USS Harry S Truman (CVN 75)

What an exciting day! Members of AWA were able to go aboard the USS Harry S Truman and what an experience it was! The USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) is the ninth nuclear-powered aircraft carrier in the U.S. Navy. A Nimitz-class super carrier, it is powered by two Westinghouse nuclear reactors that drive four steam turbines and propellers, moving the 100,000-ton ship at speeds of more than 30 knots. It is 1,096 feet long; as long as the Empire State Building is tall, and 257 feet wide at it's widest point. The Truman carries more than 5,000 people and more than 70 combat and support aircraft.
