something familiar

I'm assuming moving between continents is so easy these days, at least for us compared to the early immigrants. We've traveled and seen this and that and are used to the differences, we've learned the language early at school and used it all our professional lives, we've got all the information there is, we can keep in touch with our country of origin and friends and family there on a daily basis if needed.

Still, when I dig my hands in our garden or just walk around I see trees and plants that I can't yet name, different soil with different feel and different smell. I wonder if this is exactly the strangeness what the early immigrants felt.

I'm glad that some garden plants - and weeds - are the same everywhere.
