Quinag from Duartmore..
I like Sundays. Cooked breakfast, Archers omnibus. A little pottering in the greenhouse potting up some cabbage plants.
Down to see L, to settle some Village hall bills, drop some monies into R to pay for the mouse baits (not seen any signs of them taking the bait yet), and then down to Duartmore Forest for a walk. Lovely path marked on the map, but when we got there, the track was constructed out of wooden poles nailed to tree trunks as bearers. A bit like an upside down rail track. Fine, it would have made a good track when it was constructed, but now, probably 10 years later, it's a bit rotten. We did pass a sign saying "Unsuitable for walking" but we'd started. The track leads through the woods to the Dukes summer house, a large log cabin with wonderful views out to Eddrachilles bay and Stoer point.
One of the bonuses was the poles had areas of moss between them, in which trees had started growing, and the were very easy to pull up with a mossy cluster around the roots.Trees are 12-18 inches tall and much better than the ones we got a couple of days ago. I found a plastic bag to wrap them in, but it was hard work carrying them, and my camera and tripod..
The best of the weather had also disappeared, with a thin cloud covering..
Tanni has loved it, chasing sticks and hiding from us. When we got her home, noticed blood on her back paw. She's split a claw, and chipped the end off. Think of it as losing the end of a finger nail. We've washed it well and will keep an eye on it..
tomorrows music?.. Is Mama Cass dancing to a different song?..
