Peace and Quiet
A day of two halves. The first half was about frustration. The battery in our smoke detector was dying and chirped, loudly, once a minute from 4:40 am. I read all the stuff on the web, watched a video, cried out for help on Facebook and could not open the darn thing to relieve the battery of its ache. Dr T couldn't do it, a neighbour from across the street couldn't do it and finally another neighbour hit the jackpot.
What a relief! I was going 'round the bend. It was hard to sleep, hard to concentrate on anything and I finally went into the office to get some relief - on a Sunday on annual leave... I even went to the chemists to get ear plugs on the theory that it's better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.
When I got home, Dr T was stood warily in the hallway, listening for the dreaded chirp. He had called in the second neighbour and they thought they had sorted it but was double checking. I was flooded with relief. Peace and quiet had been restored. To celebrate, we're off to see The Grand Budapest Hotel.
This photo is neighbour number one and his wee lad. You may remember the little one from this blip. I felt so lucky to run into them and have a friendly conversation and get a blip!
