Shrove Sunday

Usually Shrove Sunday is marked by a day out sledding, but in southern Finland that was impossible. Last year this time was very different. The Sunday before Ash Wednesday (Quinquagesima) marks the beginning of Lent in the Lutheran calendar. Traditional treat on Shrove Sunday is laskiaispulla with cream and jelly

Last night Emma was visiting her cousins and she decided to stay over, so we didn't get her home until later in the afternoon. Me, hubby and Sami had a long walk in the forest (where Sami chased a deer, he was missing 13 minutes, it felt very long time to wait and wonder where the runaway was). In the forest there is a stream, which water level has dramatically dropped since it was frozen. It looked neat, like the ice was floating in the air - which it in a way did.

Me and Emma baked laskiaispulla and we had them with tea after our traditional Sunday sauna.
