The big smoke
Or perhaps that should be "the big booze"?
I was up in London today for a writers workshop on the topic of digital identity. A really interesting experience, if a little intimidating. There were about 8 people there and 4 of us took turns to briefly introduce a document we had previously written, then sit to one side taking notes and not speaking while the rest of the group critiqued it (positive and negative).
It was pretty good fun actually and thoroughly worthwhile. It's not often you get to see firsthand in detail how others interpret things that you have written. We were applying the methodology to a formalised document called a 'pattern' but actually I think it is also used in writing software and could probably be applied to any form of creative writing.
