When Joseph Huntley decided to set up a small baker's shop in 1822 on London Street, he started quickly realised he could sell biscuits to people stopping over on the main stage coach route from London to Bristol. Because the biscuits would break, he needed to put them in a container, and invented the biscuit tin.
The business grew to become be the largest biscuit manufacturer in the world with business partner George Palmer.
