Culterty House, Newburgh

This is Culterty House, this grand old lady sits at the Northern end of Newburgh and it's so sad to watch her demise over the years. It's owned by the University but has been up for sale and not been maintained for a number of years now. In fact the guy that I was talking to said that the roof was now badly damaged and letting in water so I hate to think what state the interior is in now.

The House was used by the University as part of the field studies centre but is now surplus to requirements. When Chap put up the townhouses at the Quay to the east of Main Street (seen to the right of Culterty House in the photo), they were in negotiations with the University to buy the plot with the plan to bull-doze the current House and out-buildings and put up a mirror image of the Town Houses on the plot, but negotiations fell through.

Part of me is glad that it fell through so that Chap couldn't churn out more over-priced housing in the area but it's so sad to see the house slowly decay as I drive past every day...... :-(

Need that big lottery win........
