Looking For A Little Sugar

Poor verdin!  His beak is too squat and thick to fit into the tiny holes through which the hummingbirds feed but he smells the sugar water around somewhere.

There was a wicked storm yesterday that lasted through the night.  It tossed the feeder about pretty badly.  That caused some of the sweet water to splash out of it onto its sides and around to its bottom.

This guy kept coming back to gather up some of the sweetness for himself.  The tricky part was getting it from underneath.  But he found a way...

...until I brought that sticky feeder inside for a good scrubbing and put a nice fresh one out for Zippy.  I was afraid the sugar water may have hardened in the holes preventing my little buddy from getting his nourishment.  Couldn't have that!
