Chorley Pals Memorial Statue, Chorley

Whilst visiting Chorley this afternoon I went to view the Chorley Pals memorial statue on the flag market in Chorley.

The Chorley Pals Memorial is situated on Union Street in Chorley, Lancashire, overlooking the town’s market (“The Flat Iron”) where the local ‘Pals’ Company paraded in 1914 and 1915, before setting off to war and into the pages of history at the Battle of the Somme on the 1st July 1916. The statue was unveiled on the 28th February 2010 and the site was improved in the summer of 2012.
