Funny Families Playing Cards
Found a deck of these cards in my son's old bookshelf.
This is an old game - established in the UK already in the 19th century as 'Happy Families' - do not know why they chose to translate it into Funny Families back here?
Mostly the families in the game present stereotypical images of boys & girls, women & men from the 1950s when the game was published.
The family in the picture represents my background in the countryside. It shows Mr Farmer, Mrs Farmer, Daughter and Son of Farmer - so all the members of a family are always seen through the profession of the father. And of course the son here is just idling away, while the daughter is participating in the daily chores...
Wel, I have nothing against being a farmer's daughter; I think growing up on a farm has equipped me with a pretty realistic approach to life and death - and a profound love of nature and animals of all kinds, of course!
