CONSUMER SOCIETY

Serried ranks of bins define our consumer society; blue -general waste; brown - food and garden waste; grey -paper and cardboard and the latest green for cans and plastics.
So my small garden loses approximately 6 cubic metres of space in order for me to sort out the household waste. I know we cannot go back but we used to cope with one galvanised bin for all our rubbish and then most folk had coal fires which devoured much refuse as well as providing heat and of course food came often unwrapped or paper bagged.
Oh Syd, stop moaning and concentrate on what goes in where and when does the blue go kerbside etc----it's a great system, eh?
