The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

C S Lewis was born and brought up in East Belfast and the scenery in Co Down inspired the setting for the Narnia Chronicles. This charming lifesize bronze statue, called The Searcher, is sited outside the Hollywood Road library, very close to his childhood home. It depicts Lewis as Narnia author Digory Kirke stepping into a wardrobe in search of the mystical Narmia. It was unveiled in 1998, the centenary of Lewis' birth.
