Just watching the game

You might not have thought of the Game Boy as a spectator sport, but you'd be wrong. In fact, the way Matt plays it, the Star Wars game becomes an impressive endurance event, demanding high levels of stamina, concentration and lying on your back.

Today after rugby training, Matt's pal Fraser came home with us for the rest of the day and to stay the night (it's funny how easily the word "sleepover" has entered the language). When the lads started fighting over the Game Boy, we knew it was time to take them down to the local park to tire them out the good old fashioned way.

Pumpkin risotto for tea, and most delicious it was too. It also meant I got a chance to practice carving one for Halloween (yet more creeping Americanisms: it used to be turnips for Hallowe'en). Discovered that an ice cream scoop is a very efficient way to disembowel one.
