Coo?
Visited one of my favorite bird spotting haunts, the rain catchment across from the Home Depot. The usual gulls, mallards and Muscovy ducks were there. But there was someone different…this solitary Rock Pigeon. Pigeons are numerous in Gainesville City proper but I seldom see them where I live, in the 'burbs. They are Native to the Old World, introduced and established in most of North America from central Canada southward. They dress in many different colors, from the typical bluish-gray to many color variants, ranging from all white through rusty to all black.
It seems that Pigeons are one of those creatures that are either loved or despised! I've never given them much thought, having lived all my life in Miami, where Pigeons are very common. But when I spotted this single Rock Pigeon, I snapped a shot of him/her and later seeing the image large on my monitor, decided to choose it as my Blip. I think this bird's iridescent feathers around it's neck and chest are just beautiful! So…Coo to you sweet Pigeon:)
