A helping hand.......

This sculpture sits near our local library. I've often thought about capturing it but wanted 'something else' to go with it.

I thought I'd found that extra something today. As I crouched, lining up a practice shot a young black-hooded street lad on a bmx bike rode alongside and parked himself on a nearby bench. He watched me for a few moments, then I turned the tables on him....

"Could you do me a favour and ride your bike through the gap?"

"Sure" he said, full of confidence.

"Um - there's not as much room as I thought" he called as he almost banged his head on the cast bronze, head-high thumb!

"Oh - I think I'll have to rethink this one. Maybe next time huh?"

"Sure"
