Supernatant

Supernatant (DDW’s March Challenge) - Floating on the surface of a liquid. It is actually a chemistry-based term to describe the separation between liquids, e.g. oil and water. I don’t think that this image really qualifies for the scientific meaning of the term but it certainly fits the bill in terms of the basic definition of floating on the surface of water.

I tried quite a few different options for this blip and was completely dissatisfied with them. However, when heading off to bed, the water was draining very slowly from the bathroom sink and the soapy bubbles would not disperse (need to clear the drain by the look of it) and suddenly I had a flash of inspiration to beat the other potential shots, and it did. Yes they really were that bad that this is my winner for the day. By ramping up the contrast, there is at least some pattern and form to the image if not a thing of beauty. The others I took would have been no more than place-markers to claim an image every day.
