The Japanese Flowering Quince

Also commonly referred to as "Japonica" It is red in the bud but a softer pinker red as the flowers open. Grows against the south wall at the front of the house.

It was a lovely day and I was able to do yoga in the garden for the first time this year. At a (potentially) peaceful moment, my young tom cat Billy came hurtling down from the branches of an apple tree and leapt into my lap like a sack of potatoes. It hasn't occurred to him that he is rather heavy.
