orpheus

I'm drawn to the story of Orpheus - the classic myth that is. An artist able to beguile the very beasts but unable, through love, to prevent a tragic death. It's the one Greek myth I really know. It's seeped into the art of the last thousand years: the composer Monteverdi, the poet Rilke, and this poem of images. I must appear really head-in-the-clouds pretentious, for which I apologise, but real life will have it's day soon enough I'm sure.
