Piled Higher and Deeper
My day concluded with a blast. Well, sort of. The PhD comic guy, Jorge Cham, finally came to Warwick for his talk on "procrastination" and its advantages to graduate students. I totally agree with his idea that procrastination really does wonders and i can attest to that. I've had a few experiences during my master's degree and in my research now where i had a difficult time figuring some things out. All i needed to do to get through those hard times was to take a step back , refresh the mind, do something else entirely unrelated to the research, and just relax. I notice that once i return to work, the solution to the problem seemed to look like a very straightforward thing to do!
So yeah, i absolutely and completely agree that procrastination is an attitude that every research student must possess. Relax and enjoy the moment of time off work. Take Isaac Newton for example, he was procrastinating under an apple tree in Cambridge University when he thought of the Universal Law of Gravitation! (yeah that story is probably not entirely correct but the story contains elements of what really happened)
