A FUNGUS AMONG US
I shot this yesterday, bright dry sunny, decided not to use them. Reshot today, wet rainy. These are all from today, but yesterday the top was a light tan. What a difference a little water makes. Anyway I don't know the official name for these, but I call them a conch. They are woody hard with a velvety pure white under side. I can' figure the purpose of this smooth white side, but I think the top is for cammo .
A local lady used to paint beautiful pictures on this underside and sell them at craft shows. I don't think that you should kill them, if you are not going to eat them. But I kill trees all of the time for wood, not to eat. Value judgments.
