INDUSTRIOUS INSECTS

This insect creation looks like it should be bustling with ants or whatever insect built it. It appears to be built of mud similar to the nests a mud wasp makes. Wish I could find the owners busily adding on to this – until then, I won’t have a clue as to who it belongs to. The area around the house where we’re staying has thick tropical growth of palmettos and southern pine trees and a thick undergrowth that I can imagine harbors all kinds of undesirable creatures. Even in hip boots, I would not dare to walk into it. This structure is fairly near the edge of the property and was built on a fallen, rotted tree. It’s quite the reminder just how clever and industrious little insects are.
