the promise of spring

my wife received some flowers for her part (vocal director) in a recent musical (Annie). usually she gets roses or a mixture of roses and carnations. but this year, she got an arrangement that included one of my favorite flowers ... the sunflower. as the sun was setting today, it cast a wonderful light behind the flowers and i just had to shoot it. i wanted to capture the feeling of light and warmth ... and the hope of spring.
