Fraternity.

October 1999. I'd attempted to join a gay fraternity in San Diego in 1997, and I say attempted because I was ultimately not accepted - I was floored, as I'd been in a "real" fraternity in 1993 (Theta Xi) while in college, and that right there was the problem: I think you can tell from these strips that I had some issues with being gay and masculinity. And despite that I think there's a lot more I could have done with this idea, it did generate some of my absolute favorite strips. (I was kind of bored of drawing just Zen and Frank as secondary characters, so it was fun to cook up new ones)
