Beauty and neglect

What a fascinating find. A photography exhibition 'A Beautiful World' was held in a derelict, five-storey high, concrete office block.

Each floor displayed enormous photographs throughout the rooms and although there were some small signs pointing the way it still meant exploring all the floors to find them and, considering the state of the building, it was fantastic that Health & Safety didn't prevent this.

All the furniture had been removed but everywhere other stuff had just been left. Among the peeling paint and holes in the walls there was all the detritus of office life and the kitchen was full of equipment, crockery, the remains of Christmas decorations and more.

Even though it was freezing cold in the building it still felt alive and the combination of neglect and photographs I found really exciting.
