Tea, Honey, Cakes and Music.
This is a tribute blip to my Dad, who passed away on this date in 1992.
He was the most wonderful Dad, a railwayman, a passenger guard, who worked shifts and just loved life.
He played the drums in his younger years and had a great sense of humour.
He loved playing harmless tricks on people and enjoyed comedy.
Dad was a fantastic gardener and especially loved dahlias and gladioli.
His lawn was perfection and I remember watching him get the edge immaculately straight with a piece of string nailed into the earth.
I used to help Dad as a young girl by doing safe tasks like collecting hedge clippings and transporting them in a wheelbarrow to the compost heap at the end of the long back garden. It was a joy to use the metal watering can and great fun to use the hose.
Dad was a strong, Christian, affable man and I still miss him.
The blip today is inspired by the fact Dad loved his cup of tea.
At the One Planet shop this afternoon I unpacked and priced up a fair few boxes of Fair Trade Pukka herbal teas and jars of golden honey produced by a Womens' Fair Trade Co- operative.
The fancy cakes are in the window display at Greenhalgh's bakery in Accrington.
Nearby there was a poor man with an accordian playing melodic tunes that uplifted the spirits of people in the town centre on this cold damp and drizzly day.
I hope you are having better weather blippers and enjoy a nice evening.
I look forward to Question Time!
