Pincushion II

Today it's a red pincushion (the second and last pincushion for the week and hopefully for the year .. this has been a lean weak for photo topics ..).  The plant is a member of the Protea family and indigenous to South Africa. Reportedly, it grows naturally "in arid, dry conditions". This one thrives in well watered fertile conditions. Like all of us.
