Galliano

The warmth of Friday gave us great hopes for the next stage of our Canadian holiday - spending 3 nights on Galliano Island to the south of Vancouver city. We were borrowing the holiday home of some friends of my sister and were looking forward to some relaxation in the wilderness.
As it happened, Saturday was actually quite cold, leading into another snow fall in the afternoon. But we got settled in and got the wood fire lit (making certain to never let it go out for the next 72 hours) before taking a walk through the woods of the island and down to a small jetty where a sandstone cave apparently used to form the basis of a first nations initiation ritual for young boys entering manhood...

The gang look remarkably cheery considering how wet the photo looks!
