Coventry City Centre.

St Johns Church was built in 1344 and was closed in 1546 because of Henry VIII dissolution with Rome. During the Civil War, the building was used as a prison for the Royalist prisoners and with Coventry sympathising with Parliament, the prisoners were treated coldly, which gave rise to the saying ‘Sent to Coventry’. In 1734 it was restored to its original purpose as a place of worship.
