heavy reading and light relief

I spent most of the day yesterday reading some fairly heavy things including sex as a weapon of war in the DRC, more of the actions of the LRA and that Western feminism is imposed on women in other areas of the world. I am thankful to be able to be able to sit at this desk with beautiful flowers and tasty coffee and read about all of that knowing that I'm likely to be protected from those realities for the foreseeable future. It's a luxury to be able to have enough distance from these things to be able to study them safely.
It was also great to pop in to follow-up as I finished working, it was so encouraging to see so many great conversations going on. A spontaneous trip to Joe's and an amusing catch up with Kristi after follow-up was a lovely end to a fairly heavy day.
