Hailstones on Sunspecs
..... as Julie Andrews might have sung! What a very Marchish sort of a day! We certainly took a sensible decision to leave Arran yesterday evening when the Clyde was a millpond although enveloped in mist. Today they are on Amber alert and although it's a sun and showers day, we prefer to avoid a choppy crossing when possible.
So off to Tesco food shopping and then a sprint to M&S for coffee, all in 27 varieties of weather, brilliant blue and sun to the left, thunderous, hailstone, purple and black to the right.
Not often you have to dry hailstones off your sunspecs. Fabulous! I think the most sensible option is to gaze fondly out of the window when there's sun and the rest of the time read the new Joanna Trollope which surprisingly found its way into the trolley in Tesco. I like Trollope; as you read you think "I could write this! Nothing's happening" and then you get to the end and find the characters stick in your mind for ages; same thing happens with Anita Shreve's stronger novels (she sure does write some weak ones!) and of course with Ian Brilliant McEwan. And the butler? He's chopping veg for one of his splendiferous soups!
