Doha Days

The dunes of Doha city...

It was 33 degrees today but the gentle breeze off The Persian Gulf made it feel very pleasant indeed. We sat on Persian rugs and cushions, quaffed coffee and enjoyed the view across West Bay to the futuristic downtown city skyline. Later we did our weekly shop in the downtown shopping mall having got wise to the fact that if you do this when the shops open at midday on a Friday you have no queues at the checkout.
Did I tell you that all your packing is done for you and all you have to do is chip and pin! They same thing happens in the petrol stations where every pump has an attendant and you never leave your car - not even to pay the few Qatari Rials required to fill the tank! Petrol purchase here, presumably because of the low price, is a cash only activity.
