The Gloucester Arms Re opens

After nine months or so of closure The Gloucester opens it's doors once again. Formerly known as Dockray Hall and dating back to 1477 it was once one of Richard the Thirds residences. I have mentioned this before but there is rumour of a secret passage linking it with the castle. A lot of good pubs in Penrith have closed over recent years and it is not because of lack of trade. Many landlords complain of extortionate rents imposed by the big breweries which own them. Rumour has it that the last tenant was paying £600 a week. No wonder a living cannot be made.
Good to see it open once again. Good luck.
