Brougham Castle.
CC had reason to be out about on the Brougham (pronounced Broom) side of the town. I took the opportunity of having a trip out and getting a shot or two of the castle. A real one today unlike yesterdays. Yesterdays blip caused CC's Mum to ask why "the castle" wasn't a castle. The definition I have is a large building usually mediaeval fortified to withstand attack and mostly with thick walls.
So Brougham Castle is the real McCoy being founded in the early 13th Century on the site of a Roman fort called Brocavum. Brougham Hall a mile or so down the road has an interesting vehicular history. The first Brougham Carriage was built in 1837 for the first Lord Brougham. My father who in his early life was a wheelwright was still building Broughams.
Nothing to report on the recovery front as I deliberately had a quiet day due to a visit to #2 daughter Katkatkat tomorrow.
