Bargain

When we vacated our old offices, they got rid of the old furniture (it has been replaced with shiny new plastic stuff of course!) and asked us employees if we wanted any of it. There were two nice antique wooden trunks, which admittedly have seen better days, but for me that makes them even more attractive. Cheekily, I asked for them both. A crafty move it turns out as, in the end, I was given this one and L helped me pick it up this week. I thought they'd ask us to make a donation of some sort but to my surprise, I was given it free. Lucky me! I think it looks great here in my sitting room. Just needs a bit of a polish with some beeswax...

In the end, we went out to the cinema last night for my second visit of the day, which felt rather decadent but was at least cost free as I have my Unlimited ticket. We saw 'The Monuments Men' and it was truly terrible. A very good, true story but Clooney set an awful tone and the jauntiness and levity of it in many places jarred with the backdrop of the war. There was far too much jolly and triumphalist music and it was quite hard to watch as a result. I found myself turning to S, my mouth falling open with incredulity on several occasions. In summary, a vanity project on the part of Clooney and I have no idea how he persuaded Cate Blanchette, John Goodman and Matt Damon to take part.

We went to Wagamamas after the film. I've been three times in total now and have not really enjoyed the food on any occasion. I won't be going again! S and I set the world's to rights. I told her a bit about my recent head shrink sessions and frustrations and she came up with some really good and insightful thoughts, which I'm going to mull over and take to my next session

I've enjoyed another hugely lazy day at home, today. Stayed in my pjs, chatting to B on the phone, cooking, chilling, catching up with Crufts and ironing. It's going to be hard going back to work next week!
