No need for Re-Enchantment of the World..

On this beautiful saturday morning we wanted to walk together. Through the Ockenburgh-Park into the Solleveld-Dune reserve. In the early morning hours Nature is at its best. The earth is still vapouring, spreading its odours over the fields and between the trees. The air is fresh and the sunlight not too shrill. Most wild animals have retreated before dawn. Only the manifold of birds, after awakening, keep unfolding their undisputed reign over the skies and heights.

When you are each others company walking and looking around making photo’s it is much easier to keep “the same pace” than if you have to share a common walk with a photographer.
There is this strange kind of togetherness when you are staying behind focussing on a “Möbius”-Water Mirror, or an “Escher”- type - Trippled-Woodbridge, and then catching up the disappeared Other, finding her back completely off road absorbed in getting that “Tree-face” sharp.

But This Small Forest Lane you see here above, we saw it together and we pictured it both. And we saw both the stilled sleepy tree tunnel. And there was this magical light. You can’t tell why it is present “now” in this small corner and untraceable next moment or somewhere else. Even when searching “it” for hours. It always happens to you as a cosmic gift.

So, for those who would ascribe this “magical” impression, sphere only to imagination or technical manipulation: for me/us as walker(s) with an artistic eye these magical experiences have always belonged to an undeniable concrete world of direct intuition and seeing. There it is, this sudden experience, the appearance of the sacred dimension of the natural world, as it has always been and will be in all eternity.

No need for Re-Enchantment of the World: it has never been Dis-Enchanted. Like we could never lose that Inner Eye, that vision in which the uniqueness of your deepest self is one with the universality of the kosmos (Tat twam asi).
