Matai Falls

Had a lovely evening catching up with NG yesterday, including a nice meal at the hotel in Owaka. Small world that NZ is the manager of the hotel is the wife of a former teacher at Tui and he was there working that night. He came and introduced himself and we had a good old laugh about the smallness of NZ!
This morning N and I decided to head out before breakfast to Pounawea for a walk along the beach. The tide was in so we didn't get much of a walk on the beach but we did go for a nice walk alongside the beach! and in the bush and along the road etc etc.

After we'd worked up an appetite we went to the Owaka cafe for breakfast and then parted company. I wanted to drive round on the coastal road back home, she headed off to Ranfurly. I stopped off at Matai falls for a 'few' shots!!!! And then headed south again. I took a slight detour via Curio Bay. By this time it was barely lunchtime so I was really really surprised to see a penguin out - so were the dozens of other visitors :-).
