'Loop the Lake' Cycle
Today was the annual ride around Lake Macquarie, just south of Newcastle. This is not a great photo but it recorded the event. Most cyclists start when they arrive hence there are only a few bikes in the photo.
It was an ideal day for the ride; a pleasant 24C with no wind to speak of. My friend and I averaged 23.1 kph for the 90 km (the 0.1 is important as last year we averaged 23). Our ride was a rerun of last year, including the weather, in fact our overall time, including a fruit stop and a stop for a muffin was also the same.
We started our ride from my son's place in Eleebana which is around 6 km before the official starting place so we actually finish slightly earlier, however, Darren lives up a real steep hill so our finish is a challenge!
