The Race Is On!!!

We took the dogs for a walk in the Pitfour Estate this morning. There is quite a big lake there and we saw at least thirty swans either on the lake or at the side of it.
When I took this photo, it made me think of some of the things that are a complete mystery to me.
How do such big birds as these manage to take off?
How does a television manage to show pictures from the other side of the world?
How does the spotlight in blip work?
