Kawah Putih
I finally made it down to Bandung! About 3 hours south of Jakarta, Bandung offered us a little fresh air, blue sky (mostly..) and delicious food. We left early Saturday morning, and after grabbing some lunch at a delicious Sundanese restaurant called Kampoeng Sawah (we tried a sweet cassava dish called Colenak specific to Bandung which was DELICIOUS!), we ventured a little further south and up a very narrow winding road to Kawah Putih.
Kawah Putih is a volcanic crater lake that is a striking aqua blue color. The smell of sulfur is quite strong. We arrived when it was starting to rain, and by the end of our time there it was a very heavy downpour. It didn't dampen our spirits, and it was great to walk around and take in the sights at this beautiful place!
After visiting Kawah Putih, we made our way into Bandung city. The drive was peppered with strawberry and tea farms, quiet mountain villages, and really gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains. After we "checked in" to our guesthouse, and had dinner at a place called "Chef's Table" that boasted a menu containing no MSG and no Pork, though we were presented with a menu full of pork once we arrived :).
