The Prestoungrange Totem Pole
Yes it's a Totem pole....but no I didn't take the photograph anywhere in North America. This Totem pole is in fact on the seafront at Prestonpans just outside Edinburgh.
This is carved from 32 foot of Red Cedar wood originally felled in November 2004 6000 miles away in the forests of Chemainus in North Cowichan, British Columbia, Canada by Xwa Lack Tun, Tawx'sin Yexwello and Kenny Grieve. It was erected in August 2006 as part of Prestoungrange Arts Festival.
An unexpected, but welcome, sight on a Scottish town seafront!
