Aberdeen Tivoli

Scottish born artist Jack Vetriano has agreed to exhibit some of his intense and quite provocative images this month at Aberdeen’s Tivoli Theatre.
Opened in 1872 as Aberdeen’s “Her Majesty’s”, the Tivoli has hosted some of the country’s best-known performers including Andy Stewart, Tony Hancock, Frankie Vaughan, Lex McLean, George Formby, Bobby Mack, Morgot Bentley, Tommy Banner and those Alexander Brothers.
Listed on the Scottish Civic Trust’s Buildings at Risk Register for Scotland the Tivoli is now under new ownership and looks pretty brilliant if you ask me.
Seemingly though Helensburgh born Lex Mclean died on stage when he uttered the immortal words “Puff, puff, puff, the train came down the line . . . Celtic 0, Rangers 9.”
Jack has a more liberal approach. I wish him well and highly recommend his work as indicative of a new age in Scottish popular art.
