" MUSKRAT . . . STALKING"
It was a beautiful sunny 45 degree day. The ice is beginning to melt and the lake was bustling with activity - humankind as well as a variety of water fowl. For the first time I spotted this muskrat - a semiaquatic rodent who has a den on the side of the lake. A group of "photographers" gather frequently to capture the antics of the resident animals and bird life.
It was amazing to watch the interaction of the muskrat with these two
Mallard ducks - the female paid no attention to the muskrat however the male kept inching closer and closer "quacking" as he approached the muskrat. The muskrat would drive into the water only to surface in another spot where he could easily climb up onto the ice. I took many shots - this one says it all . . .
